Public Works

I created my public works 3D model in Rhino based off of my great grandmother Violetta Sirken's house in Jersey City. When she immigrated to the United States this is where she first moved with my grandmother and where they lived with my mother. Three generations under one roof makes this old victorian house very special to me, so I wanted to create a work inspired by the beautiful victorian detail. I used the array command extensively for the rectangular detailing around the house. Among other things I used mostly Boolean difference and union in creating the positive and negative spaced windows and doors, copy and piping for the banister, and numerous extrusions.

Avenir Light is a clean and stylish font favored by designers. It's easy on the eyes and a great go to font for titles, paragraphs & more.

Right off the bat I experimented with how to make the windows, and since I had used Boolean Union and kept going I couldn't take away the top window that goes straight through the building. I had also made all of the windows and doors before realizing I cannot unionize them altogether or I wouldn't be able to render different colors for each part of the house. I'm disappointed I forgot this but I won't moving forward. I needed to Union them so that I could actually cut into the house, so I'm not sure how I could do that and render each window seperately.
