About me

My name is Sierra Schweitzer, I am a Junior at Appalachian State University originally from Raleigh, NC, getting a BFA in Studio Art with a concentration in Sculpture. When I first began college my big dream was photography, that was until I took my first sculpture class. I immediately fell in love with Casting and the extensive processes involved with working in metal, wood, etc. Since the pandemic began taking photo classes was how I sustained my creative drive, and I backed away from Sculpture studios. However I immediately felt something missing, and took on personal casting projects to make up for it. Although I have experimented in Digital Fabricating, I still have avoided creating my own files from scratch, which is essential to get where I want to be. This class will give me the tools to work on creating my own 3D files to print and cast, as well as accessing ways of designing digitally during a time of isolation.
